At our research group, we blend science and engineering to create smart soft materials—including colloids, gels, liquid crystals, and polymers. These materials might sound complex, but they play powerful roles in everyday life: they’re improving how we treat diseases, store energy, clean water, and more. And we believe their potential has only just begun to be tapped.
Our mission goes beyond discovery. We are committed to mentoring and training the next generation of scientists right here in Puerto Rico. So far, over 35 students have joined our group, gaining hands-on experience and launching careers that have global reach.
We’ve published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and shared our findings at more than 40 scientific conferences—contributions that connect fundamental theory with solutions to real-world challenges.
